PROMOTING EQUITABLE ACCESS TO CLEAN ENERGY (PEACE) PROJECT

Today, as we celebrate Earth Day, we're thrilled to share how the Civil Society Network on Climate Change (CISONECC) is working hand in hand with the Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA) to promote equitable access to clean energy in Malawi.

Project Overview:

In collaboration with CEPA and with support from the European Union (EU), CISONECC is implementing the Promoting Equitable Access to Clean Energy (PEACE) Project. This project focuses on ensuring that citizens and civil society organizations are empowered to advocate for their right to energy and for the adoption of efficient and fair energy distribution systems and regulations in Malawi.

Our Goals:

The PEACE Project aims to create a more green and resilient economic transformation in Malawi by strengthening an enabling environment for equitable access to clean energy.

Community Entry Meetings:

To kick off the project, CISONECC, with technical support from Lilongwe and Salima District Councils, is organizing community entry meetings in Salima District and peri-urban areas of Lilongwe and Blantyre Districts. These meetings are designed to orient communities on the PEACE Project and ensure their active participation in its implementation.

Objectives of the Entry Meetings:

  • Raise awareness of community leaders and structures on the PEACE Project.
  • Secure communities' buy-in into the project to foster ownership and commitment.
  • Inform community leaders and structures about their roles in project implementation.

Outcomes of the Entry Meetings:

  • Enhanced understanding of community leaders and structures about the PEACE Project.
  • Strengthened coordination among stakeholders for effective project implementation.
  • Increased awareness among community leaders and structures about their roles in the project.

Join us in advocating for equitable access to clean energy and building a greener, more sustainable future for all!
