Julius Ng’oma is the National Coordinator for Civil Society Network on Climate Change (CISONECC) and has been leading the network since 2014 on the major strategic areas of policy research and advocacy; capacity building and information management; networking coordination and collaboration and fund raising and resource mobilization. Mr. Ng’oma has led the network in so many engagements on climate change and disaster related issues both at national, regional and international level. Mr. Ng’oma is a former Alternate Active Observer to the Green Climate Fund representing CSO in the Global South; a Member of the Continental Governing Council of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) serving in the Political and Technical Affairs of PACJA; a Focal Person for PACJA; Southern Voices on Adaptation Network; Global Network on Disaster Risk Reduction; African Coalition for Sustainable Energy and Access (ACSEA) and Big Shift Campaign in Malawi. While serving in these capacities, Mr. Ng’oma has been part and parcel of Government of Malawi delegation to the Conference of Parties every year since 2014. He has also represented Government of Malawi and Civil Society Organizations in Malawi and in Africa as a delegate in fora such as the African Ministerial Conferences on Environment (AMCEN); Climate Change and Development in Africa (CCDA); Community Based Adaptation (CBA); Adaptation Futures Conferences; National Adaptation Plan Expos (NAP-Expo); Africa Climate Weeks; Green Climate Fund Board Meetings and Structured Dialogues, among others. Mr. Ng’oma is also an environmental impact assessment and climate change specialist; a social and livelihoods policy analyst and practitioner who has over 10 years of practical experience in programme and strategy development, partnership and support, capacity building, policy research, networking, advocacy and engagements on climate change and disaster risk management. He holds an MSc in Environmental Sciences from University of Malawi and a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Mzuzu University, Malawi.
He was trained by the LEG on development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the National Adaptation Planning (NAPs); and is a certificated trainer, facilitator and a Champion of Participatory Scenario Planning (PSP) in Africa.
