CISONECC with financial support from OXFAM Malawi under Increasing Access to Renewable Energy Project, conducted a national level stakeholder engagement on Increasing Access to Renewable Energy in Malawi. The meeting attracted stakeholders from Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Finance, National Planning Commission (NPC), the academia, private sector in energy generation and supply, Media and the Civil Society. The meeting was conducted on 1st April, 2021
in Mponela, Dowa District and aimed to contribute to enhancing the adoption and use of renewable energy systems in Malawi in line with the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) Initiative and Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDS III) objectives on Energy, Industry and Tourism Development, including the National Energy Policy objectives.
The engagement was meant to raise stakeholder awareness on Renewable Energy Policy framework and financing in Malawi, provide a platform for stakeholders to engage with renewable energy access-oriented policies and strategies, and provide a platform for stakeholders to jointly develop strategies for increasing access to Renewable Energy in Malawi.
Through the engagement, stakeholders were successfully oriented on the Renewable Energy Policy Framework and Financing in Malawi and how the policies and financing modalities are supporting increased access to Renewable Energy in Malawi.
