CISONECC, under the Resource Rights Programme (RRP); Climate Change Advocacy Project (CAP) with support from Irish Aid through Trōcaire conducted a stakeholders’ engagement workshop on monitoring implementation of policies through the use of participatory monitoring and evaluation (PME). The aim of the workshop was to share with Resource Rights Programme partners and other stakeholders the status of implementation of the National Disaster Risk Management Policy and support preliminary review of the expired framework. The workshop was held on 17th September, 2020 in Mponela, Dowa.
Specifically, the workshop aimed to enlighten the stakeholders on the provisions of the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) policy and draft DRM Bill as well as the status of implementation. The workshop also aimed to monitor the progress made in implementing RRP partners’ action plans with regards to PME, and to monitor the progress made in the implementation of the DRM policy through PME.
Through this workshop, CISONECC was able to track the progress made; challenges and successes by the RRP partners in using PME in the implementation of the policies and even other programs. The workshop also assisted CISONECC to solicit further inputs which fed into recommendations for the draft DRM Bill that is yet to be enacted
